A commitment to innovation and sustainability
The Aoyama family business traces its roots back to the 1880s. Two generations ago, Jitaroh Aoyama led the family enterprise, which specialised in repairing musical instruments such as violins and organs. In 1897, he established the Aoyama Musical Instrument Manufacturing Company in Fukui, producing finely crafted string instruments including violins and cellos.
His son, Masao Aoyama, developed a deep admiration for the harp and later took over the family business. Driven by his passion and craftsmanship, he devoted himself to the creation of harps and introduced the production of Aoyama Folk Harps.
Today, Kenzo Aoyama continues the family legacy as the current successor of the company. Under his leadership, Aoyama began producing Grand Concert Harps and gained worldwide recognition as one of the few internationally respected harp manufacturers.
Aoyama Harp Facility
In 1992, Aoyama completed the construction of its new harp manufacturing facility, which also houses a concert hall and a museum featuring antique harps. Guided by the family philosophy, “Be honest and do your best work,” the company combines traditional craftsmanship with modern manufacturing techniques through the dedication of its skilled artisans.
